midnight snack

There was no way to argue
as I hung over your shoulder
when you brought me into the kitchen.
You propped my bones on the oven
while I checked for a pilot light
in the darkness
don’t worry it’s electric
You wasted no time with your hands.
I didn’t know my shirt was off
until a breeze from inside chilled me.
I murmured about unevenness in heating,
While your fingers ran along my ribs.
where are you?
Your lips never quite leaving my skin.
You pushed me further
along, I thought of the danger
not knowing if it was off or on, the fire
without the flame.
You peeled away whatever remained
there’s nothing to you
and your mouth glistened.
I told you to close your eyes.
