Our efforts to disconnect ourselves from our own suffering end up disconnecting our suffering from God’s suffering for us. The way out of our loss and hurt is in and through.

  1. once again the posts here seem to aim straight at my soul. & even as I write this, I’m reminded of R Flack singing that song about the singer having “found my letters and read each one out loud”- except, I haven’t written them yet. Or as another poet puts it, “like it was written in my soul”, only from you, to me. Via Henri.

    1. Thank you! I’m glad the post spoke to you. Henri Nouwen was an amazing person who touched many lives with his writing. I am so happy to have come across his work and very humbled and grateful that it might reach you this way. That was my whole purpose behind this blog. I highly recommend Reaching Out, that book is a gift of love.

    1. Oh you’re not the only one telling me to read Parker Palmer! That book looks interesting but next up on my reading list is Cutting for Stone. I’ve read so much religion lately I want to read fiction that I can mine and find God’s grace within. I fully expect to find it in this book based on the quotes I posted by Verghese. He better not disappoint me!

      I am kidding there.
